Mubadala’s commitment to tennis reflects our long-term approach to community empowerment, global engagement, and talent development through sport.
More than a decade ago, we launched the Mubadala World Tennis Championship at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi—our first step in growing the game locally and creating a platform for youth development. This initiative has since evolved into a global strategy that aligns sport with Mubadala's values of inclusion, excellence, and opportunity.
Over the years, Mubadala expanded its global tennis footprint through partnerships with premier events including the Rio Open in Brazil and the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic in the United States. At the Rio Open, its collaboration supported underserved communities through the NERO program, reinforcing a commitment to social impact—on and off the court.
In 2023, Mubadala advanced its leadership in the sport by becoming the title partner of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open—the city’s first WTA 500 event—and co-sponsoring the Mubadala Citi DC Open, the only combined ATP-WTA 500 tournament in the world. These partnerships demonstrate Mubadala's ability to scale impact globally while shaping the future of tennis.
In 2024, Mubadala deepened its commitment to youth empowerment through a new partnership with the Washington Tennis Education Foundation (WTEF), enabling under-resourced youth in Washington D.C. to access opportunities through sport and education. This two-year agreement amplifies its efforts to create meaningful, long-term social value.
At the 2024 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, Mubadala embedded community engagement, youth development, and cultural integration into every aspect of the tournament. Through strategic investment, it supported grassroots tennis, promoted women’s empowerment, and created high-value networking platforms for business leaders.
