Mubadala, alongside ADQ-backed Etihad Rail and Oman Rail, launched Hafeet Rail—a cross-border railway company that will develop and operate a freight and passenger line between Abu Dhabi and Sohar Port in Oman.
This strategic venture strengthens the UAE’s position as a logistics gateway and creates a regional transport corridor linking key Gulf trade hubs.
Hafeet Rail will oversee the construction and operation of a 250-kilometre railway connecting key industrial zones and ports, significantly reducing transport costs and delivery times across the UAE-Oman border. The new line will support the movement of up to 276 twenty-foot equivalent containers and 150 thousand tonnes of bulk cargo per train, unlocking long-term efficiencies in regional logistics.
For Mubadala, this project reflects a commitment to building large-scale infrastructure that enhances trade, supply chain resilience, and industrial competitiveness. The railway is expected to boost non-oil trade volumes between the two nations, drive economic integration, and enable sustainable freight solutions that support the region’s decarbonization ambitions.
The formation of Hafeet Rail aligns with Mubadala’s broader strategy to invest in transformative infrastructure platforms that stimulate regional development. By supporting the creation of a multi-modal logistics ecosystem, Mubadala is contributing to a new chapter in regional economic collaboration and future-ready connectivity.
